AAVS Guatemala 2017
In 2017, the Guatemala Visiting School will be focussed on Lake Atitlán, one of the most important natural, cultural and touristic icons of Guatemala. We will explore the lake by conducting a wide range of activities: we will ride canoes and local tuc-tucs, we will fly drones, make aerial photos and videos and we will learn how to get 3D models from them; we will also film and interview local people and conduct local surveys to get specific information; we will download, visualize and analyze data from different sources using GIS. In summary, we will gain different insights into the lake and its physical and social environment with the aim of eventually working on diverse visions for the future of the lake, crystalized in the production of a number of short documentary films. Different lectures and conferences will take place throughout the whole workshop, articulating and informing the work in progress and the discussion on the different topics addressed.
